Do decorative shutters also protect my home in a storm?
Many of our Bahama and Colonial styles are available in impact rated versions with integrated locking systems. They look like traditional shutters every day of the year and meet hurricane standards when you need them to. Tell us which openings matter most and we will show you which styles qualify.
Should I only protect the windows facing the water?
No. Wind and debris can arrive from any direction depending on where your home sits relative to the eyewall and which way the storm is tracking. Partial protection leaves the openings that fail first unguarded.
Which storm product is right for my house?
Hurricane panels cost the least and store flat. Fabric systems like Armor Screen cover wide openings and deploy without ladders. Accordions stay mounted and close in seconds. Rolldowns disappear into a housing and operate from a remote. A specialist will match the system to your openings, your storage space and how much help you will have when a storm is named.
Do insurance companies give a discount for hurricane protection?
Yes. The Omnibus Coastal Property Reform Act of 2007 requires South Carolina carriers to provide credit for approved protection. An inspection is usually required by the carrier, and we can provide it.
